If you’re relatively new to inkless pen products and are curious how they work, we’d be happy to provide you with a brief overview. And, no, it doesn’t require any prior knowledge of graphology or metallurgy to understand their inner workings. First and foremost, nothing truly lasts ‘forever’. Although this may seem commonsensical, while researching for the best inkless pen and inkless pen brands, we saw reviews from customers asking if and how these pens can possibly last forever. Honest answer: they don’t. But realistically speaking, you’d have to write with this pen everyday for years and years before buying a new one. Again, nothing lasts forever. Similar to the pen on the left and the one above, this pen is designed by Napkin — a leading inkless pen brand — and is part of their Pininfarina series. Inkless pens by Napkin utilize a ethergraf tip and a patented metal alloy, which deposits small amounts of metal on the page to give the appearance of an ink pen. Although slightly lighter in color than a standard ink pen, inkless pens won’t run out, won’t smudge, can write in wet conditions, and are relatively more eco friendly than conventional ink pens since you won’t have to throw them out every month. If you’re still not really sold on inkless pens, we recommend checking out ‘space pens’. Space pens have risen in popularity since their inception due in large part to their versatility. If you’ve ever tried to write with a conventional pen at an angle other than with the tip pointing towards the floor — perhaps while holding a clipboard — you may have noticed that your average pen isn’t great at calibrating different angles and may not write effectively. Moreover, if you’ve ever tried to write in a relatively cold environment with a standard pen, you may have noticed a similar degradation in performance. Space pens are designed to write at any angle, even in Zero Gravity, and can write in extreme temperatures from -30F to 250F. If you like to write on the go, we recommend taking a look at space pens.
